Alan was born in Croatia and in 1998 graduated from the University of Zagreb as a Mechanical Engineer. After university he was involved in the automation of green houses, working for an international consulting company. Before moving to Canada, Alan was designing stainless steel parts for professional kitchens, bars and other industries. Following his move to Toronto in 2001, his career took another direction. Automotive parts design and forming analysis along with tool design and software analysis became his preoccupation. In 2006 he started with PMP program with the goal to redirect his career toward management and project coordination. Alan is currently working in the automotive industry. Die design and automotive parts are his expertise.
Alan's passion for the sea and boats was inbred from his uncle Joza who sailed twice around the world. Joza Horvat is the most famous Croatian writer/sailor who started his dream of sailing around the world in a similar way, by building his boat himself. The adventure was captured in his book “Besa”.
Alan’s engineering background, analytical skills and his contacts are instrumental in the realization of the Julius project.
