ENDANGERED ISLANDS EXPEDITION
PAPA EARTH - RANGI SKY

IN DEVELOPMENT
13 X 60' HD series

ENDANGERED ISLANDS EXPEDITION is above all else aimed toward preserving knowledge before it is lost.

In today’s world humanity is witnessing the rapid advancement of change. The diversity of our planet is under threat and languages and cultures are steadily disappearing. As the globe opens up, it becomes smaller and as our population continues to increase, our impact on the environment worsens. No other geographic regions feel the effect of this more than island countries.

ENDANGERED ISLANDS EXPEDITION is a cultural documentary series that will sail to the remote regions of the Pacific and Indian Oceans to chronicle island cultures who remain deeply connected with their ancestral traditions. Unsurpassed in quality of production and content, the series will act as an archival record, preserving knowledge and ancient wisdom traditions before they are lost to us permanently.

PAPA EARTH- RANGI SKY is a TV series that will follow the real life journey
of the ‘Endangered Islands Expedition’ - a seven member crew on a scientific mission. The goal is to scout the locations and set the stage for “State of Evolution” , the landmark documentary series that will profile vanishing island cultures.

Over thousands of years these cultures have refined their unique understanding of the world around them, developing traditional knowledge and interconnectivity between themselves and their natural environments. Collectively, this knowledge holds tremendous value for the global community, yet it is in danger of being lost.

2005 was “the year of islands”, and attention is sharply focused on the potential hazards confronting small island states. Susceptibility to environmental degradation and the force of globalisation are among these growing threats. By seizing the opportunity to record island cultures, preserving them before they vanish, the expedition will have long-standing global benefits, providing a permanent reference point for future generations.

Over 2 years the crew will navigate through unfamiliar territory, charting their course. Entirely unscripted, the series will depict the challenging tasks of mapping logistics, communicating cross-culturally and working with each other aboard the boat. As the expedition evolves, a candid and fascinating story will unfold.

Ultimately, PAPA EARTH- RANGI SKY is a story of people coming together in a remarkable effort to preserve a critical chapter of our collective human history.
