I always loved the old photo from 1961 of my Mom and Dad on their BMW R250. They were serious travelers. I think that is where I got my travel bug, bouncing in my Mom's tummy on roads all around Europe until she was 7 months pregnant. Before their 40th wedding anniversary last year I decided to use this photo as the base for the poster I'll make for them.
I scanned the old photo, enlarged it to a poster size and did some work in Photoshop, adding a few filters and painting riders clothes. I called my Mom and asked her if she remembers the colors of what they were wearing on that photo - of course she remembered. I found few more photos of close-ups of their faces, googled some technical data about that BMW from 1957 and these elements were enough to start composing the poster. It was a big surprise and the great gift at their anniversary party and made my parents memories almost alive again. They framed and hung the poster and it continues to get attention from guests sparking stories about the old days.
