Michael Cavanaugh was born in a mill town on the north shore of Lake Superior in Ontario, Canada. He has been playing guitar and singing for over 35 years and plays a variety of styles including folk, blues, country and rock, both solo and in bands. Early influences include a number of musicians around Thunder Bay, Ken Hamm, Hans Hansen and Rodney Brown. In the late 70's Michael was a member of The Three Musty Steers, a folk-roots band in Winnipeg. Included in their repertoire were a large number of Irish and Newfoundland songs.
In the 80s and early 90s he was in a number of blues bands in Toronto. For over a decade Michael has been focusing on writing and performing original songs. Some of these can be found on his ezFolk site.
Michael sails regularly with his brother on Lake Huron on his 37 foot Northern, Twocan.
