A former competitive world-class windsurfer and sailor, Dawn brings creative communication strategies and international media exposure to the project.
RENATA SPORCIC
Sponsorships and Trans-Atlantic Crew
Renata is in charge of arranging Major Sponsorships and nutrition logistics for the Trans-Atlantic voyage. With passion in skiing, biking, art and music and with lots of outdoor experience with superb kitchen skills she will bring laughter, fun, discipline and full tummies to the rest of the sailing crew. Her dog Lucy will be the first Shih Tzu to do the North-Atlantic passage.
Peter has been with High Seas Productions since 2001 and is the main cameraman for the series. He will join the crew crossing the Atlantic on Julius.
ALOIZ VACEK
Cameraman
Aloiz is a producer and a cameramen with many years of experience in all fields of media. He will film for the series, and will assist in many other aspects. Aloiz enjoys his true passion on recently restored Bayfield 25, sailing on Lake Ontario.
Recently returned from a two year sailing voyage around the world as the Expedition Leader for ReachtheWorld.org, James is the skipper for the crossing, adding his knowledge of the high seas to the success of the voyage. .

Darin, a licenced skipper, will join the rest of the crew in Newfoundland as one of Atlantic-crossing crew.

DANNY KLACKO
Hull Building Foreman & Custom Spars Specialist
Danny, the founder and owner of KLACKO SPARS - Canada's custom marine fabricator for the past 40 years, is in charge of aluminium hull building. In later stages of the boatbuild Klacko Spars is outfitting Julius with the custom made mast and the boom. Without Danny this project would not exist!
MIKE CAPALDI
Marine Electrician
An avid boater, Mike is the owner of " Appleby Marine Inc", a full service marine company specializing in the design and installation of electrical systems. He enjoys a challenge and prefers the "hands on" approach to problem solving. Mike is in charge of the electrical system on Julius.
PAUL CEZETTE
Welder/Metal Fabricator
Paul has over 30 years experience as a metal welder. He joined the fabricating team to learn more about boatbuilding as he plans to build his own 50 ft metal motor-sailer. Paul is essential in fixing problems left by the previous fabricator.
Chris Aslin has been working on and sailing boats since he was a child. His marine experience includes professional sail making, traditional wooden boat building, modern cold moulded wood techniques, building in welded aluminum, and fiberglass construction.
BRIAN CHAPMAN
Sail Designer / Sailmaker
Brian is Design Coordinator for UK-Halsey Group and has over 40 years of competitive sailing experience as well as 3 decades of sailmaking under his belt. Brian is designing and making Julius' sails in his recently opened UK-Halsey Sailmakers Toronto loft.
FRANK ESKIT
Speciality Machined Parts Designer/Fabrication
With
20 years of experience in Machining, Fabricating and Assembly in the
Commercial, Military and Aerospace industries, Frank brings extensive
knowledge in both methods and applications of machining Aerospace
materials to the project. Having been involved in many custom motor
sports projects in the past, the Julius project has drawn him into
furthering his knowledge in nautical builds and the sailing experience.
Living his entire life steps from Oakville’s harbors he hopes of one
day being a part of a transatlantic crossing.
DAVE LAWSON
Welder/Metal Fabricator
Dave is specialised in custom metal fabrication with TIG & MIG welding of stainless steel and aluminum. He works in Klacko Spars and is one of guys that is fabricating the hull of the sailboat.
TOM GAYFORD
Spar Manufacturer
Tom works as a spar manufacturer at Klacko Spars in Oakville, Ontario and has, under Danny Klacko's directions, built the mast and the boom for Julius. 19 year son of John Gayford (who recently built and sailed his 46' aluminum sailboat to Australia, from Oakville via Cape Town), Tom also crews on a C&C 38 and sails his collegiate rigged International 14 out of Bronte Harbour Yacht Club in Oakville, which expands his experience with sailboats and spar manufacturing as a whole.
Craig's energy and his extensive marine background, combined with his film work experience, is a valuable asset to our production.
CHRISTOPHER GIRAUDY
Rebuild Contributor
Chris lends his experience in design, metal fabrication and project coordination developed after years of involvement in the aerospace and marine industries. His love of outdoor activities and a good challenge are what attracted him to The Julius Project.
Alan has over 10 years experience in sheet metal design and FEA analysis. His engineering background, analytical skills and contacts all contribute to the success of the project. Alan inherited his passion for the sea and boats from his uncle, the famous Croatian sailor and writer Joza Horvat.
RICK WESTWOOD
Welder/Metal Fabricator
Rick has no much experience in the boat building industry but is a good welder and was part of the team in Klacko Spars, building Julius hull. His passion are hot-rod cars he builds by himself.
GUNTER RICHTLER
Fabricator
Self-proclaimed boatbuilder, responsible for fabricating the deck and the cockpit of Julius. His questionable welding techniques and work ethics have put the project behind schedule.
Ted Brewer is a lifelong sailor. In addition to completing over 270 designs, Ted has written 3 books; one of them, "Understanding Boat Design", is now in its 4th edition and has been a popular design primer for 30 years. From Brewer's design #212 - the Aragosa 35 - the new Julius is being built.
Mark is world famous for many ocean going sailboat designs, including Niagara and Nonsuch. His office in Oakville puts him in close proximity to the rebuild shop at Klacko's where he advises the Team regarding modifications to the original Brewer's design.
